On Tuesday evening (9 May) – just a few hours after Norwegian giant Mowi was fined £800,000 over the corporate killling of Clive Hendry – a whistleblower (I've redacted their name to protect their identity but they said they work for Mowi) provided the following information:

This information has now been passed onto the Health & Safety Executive, Marine Accident Investigation Branch, Maritime and Coastguard Agency, Marine Scotland and other relevant parties echoeing the call of Mowi widow Catriona Lockhart for a Fatal Accident Inquiry into the death of Clive Hendry:

Just to clarify

Nothing has changed for the better safety wise at Marine Harvest / Mowi.

At the time of Clive's death the Health and Safety department consisted of 3 persons.

Now it only contains one person along with the former Health & Safety Manager retained in a part time self employed basis.

This is due to Ben Hadfield MD only concerned with minimising the amount of full time employees (FTE) within Mowi.

Health and Safety is not his priority!

The MAIB found there was no effective safety management system in place, there still isn't!

Regular man overboard drills are still not conducted throughout the company.

There is no longer an effective training system in place.

In order to save costs new members of staff watch safety and training videos remotely (or to be very blunt, pretend to watch them).

For the PR department of Mowi to say 'we all continue to be deeply affected by Clive's death' is both offensive and insulting.

Health and Safety will NEVER be a priority within Mowi whilst Ben Hadfield is MD.

The whistleblower said they worked for Mowi.
