Salman Rushdie may have choked on his smoked salmon bagel this morning when reading the 'Salmon Fatwa' headline in today's On Islam. Salman, the controversial author (not to be confused with the controversial fish) still has a fatwa hanging over his head 25 years after the publication of his book 'The Satanic Verses'.

The controversial issue of feeding pigs and chickens to salmon will be a hot topic at the North Atlantic Seafood Forum in Bergen, Norway, this week (5-7 March). One of the forum sponsors is tainted food producer Findus – along with salmon farming giants Marine Harvest, Leroy, EWOS, Grieg and Morpol.
Findus is still reeling from the horsemeat scandal which has shocked consumers across Europe.
The bookmakers are now betting 10-1 on Findus launching a new 'Flying Fish Fillet' product during the North Atlantic Seafood Forum event.
Odds on favourite is a Findus farmed salmon product for lunch!
