Brian,

Here's Scottish Salmon Watch's reply to your "careful consideration" of our complaint filed on 1 May 2020 which appears to have investigated the wrong incident (1 September 2019 not 2 November 2019) – online here

Scottish Salmon Watch would like to refer this matter to the Independent Complaints Assessor appointed by the Department of Transport. Could you please pass this letter on to relevant contact?

To quote from our letter:

"Finally, the Maritime & Coastguard Agency's refusal on 18 June 2020 to disclose information on the fatality at Mowi's Ardtintoul salmon farm in Loch Alsh in February 2020 is disappointing.

Scottish Salmon Watch considers the Maritime & Coastguard Agency's refusal to take up our offer of sharing video footage of the reckless behaviour of Mowi at Ardtintoul in Loch Alsh in November 2019 (the same site and featuring the same vessel – Mowi's Beinn Na Caillich workboat – and Clive Hendry who was killed on18 February 2020) as negligent in the extreme.

Whilst Scottish Salmon Watch concedes that such footage is unlikely to be materially relevant to the investigation into the fatality at Mowi's Ardintoul salmon farm in Loch Alsh it could prove to be circumstantial evidence."

Your reply dated 18 June 2020 is published online here

Thanks,

Don Staniford

Director, Scottish Salmon Watch
