Photos: ‘Organic’ Sea Harvest of Diseased Salmon, Mass Mortality or Toxic Chemical Use?

Here's photos taken yesterday (18 March 2021) at 'Organic' Sea Harvest's salmon farm at Culnacnoc on the Isle of Skye:

Here's photos of the Sealicehunter from Norway (a de-licing boat with a SkaMik brushing machine on board) at 'Organic' Sea Harvest (19 March 2021):

Is this early harvesting due to infectious diseases and lice infestation, a mass mortality incident or perhaps a treatment with toxic chemicals or freshwater?  'Organic' Sea Harvest reported earlier this week (15 March 2021) that "the first harvest is expected in Spring 2021".

Scottish Salmon Watch revealed earlier this week that 'Organic' Sea Harvest had reported disease and mass mortality problems at their Soil Association certified organic salmon farming operations (including 11,671 morts in one week in July/August 2020).

Here's 'Case Information' published by the Scottish Government's Fish Health Inspectorate relating to an inspection of 'Organic' Sea Harvest's Invertote salmon farm in November 2020:

AGD is Amoebic Gill Disease and PGD is Proliferative Gill Disease (read more via "Gill Diseases: Scottish Salmon's Dirty Big Secret" and "Photo Dossier of Diseased, Deformed & Abused Scottish Salmon").   Alphamax is the trade name for the toxic chemical Deltamethrin – shown by peer-reviewed science to be lethal to shellfish and labelled by the chemical manufacturer as a 'Marine Pollutant'.    An article – "The impact of anti-sea lice pesticides, azamethiphos and deltamethrin, on European lobster (Homarus gammarus) larvae in the Norwegian marine environment" – published in scientific journal Environmental Pollution in September 2020 reported:

The latest version of the Soil Association's 'organic' salmon standards (published in February 2021) shamefully permits the use of the lobster-killing chemical Deltamethrin:

It beggars belief that salmon doused in toxic chemicals and ridden with infectious diseases can be marketed as 'organic' and certified by the Soil Association

The presence of the Sealicehunter at 'Organic' Sea Harvest indicates lice problems.   Scottish Salmon Watch filmed the Sealicehunter in Oban last Summer.

In June 2020, Scottish Salmon Watch revealed that over 500,000 farmed salmon had died a horrible death due to mechanical de-licers such as the Hydrolicer, Thermolicer and Optilicer.

In March 2020, Scottish Salmon Watch called for a ban on torture chambers such as the Thermolicer.

In November 2020, Scottish Salmon Watch revealed that 'Organic' Sea Harvest was owned by investors in the Netherlands, Canada and Norway.

In August 2020, a inspection of 'Organic' Sea Harvest's Invertote salmon farm by the Scottish Government's Fish Health Inspectorate revealed problems with infectious diseases and mass mortalities.

The Scottish Government's Fish Health Inspectorate details two 'Mortality Event Reports' (11,671 morts during the Week of 25 July to 31 July 2020 and 4,836 morts during the Week of 1 August to 8 August 2020) filed by Organic Sea Harvest in August 2020 – reporting that "Mortality being attributed to increased stress and physical damage as a result of a high Caligus burden and associated secondary bacterial infections" with the use of Alphamax (Deltamethrin):

A Freedom of Information disclosure by the Scottish Government in February 2020 revealed that Organic Sea Harvest imported 584,000 salmon eggs in February 2019 from Mowi Ireland to be on-grown by Landcatch Natural Selection Ltd at their Ormsary Hatchery in Argyll with another 675,00 salmon eggs imported in November 2019 from virus-laden Stofnfiskur in Iceland (read more online here).

In March 2020, Dutch TV slammed 'organic' salmon.

Back in January 2020, Scottish Salmon Watch reported on the controversy surrounding the expansion by 'Organic' Sea Harvest (then controlled by Villa Seafood via Norway's Villa Seafood Group & 2400074 Ontario IncCanadian company DOM International owned by Domenic Porporo/Proporo).
