New mortality data published by Salmon Scotland for October 2022 illustrates the scale of deaths and disease plaguing salmon farms across Scotland – with 74% mortality reported at the Nevis B salmon farm and 43% mortality reported at the Nevis A salmon farm operated by RSPCA Assured Scottish Sea Farms (exclusive supplier to M&S) in Loch Nevis on the West coast of Scotland.

Bakkafrost's RSPCA Assured salmon farms at East Tarbert Bay and Druimyeon Bay off the Isle of Gigha reported 38.5% and 30.6% mortality for October 2022 with Loch Duart reporting 26.5% mortality at RSPCA Assured Loch Carnan. RSPCA Assured Mowi reported 15.6% mortality at Hellisay and 'Organic' Sea Harvest – the only salmon farming company NOT accredited as 'welfare-friendly' by RSPCA Assured – reported 12.8% mortality at Invertote salmon farm off the Isle of Skye:

Of the salmon farms harvested out during October 2022, the highest mortality rate was at RSPCA Assured Mowi (Hellisay) closely followed by RSPCA Assured Scottish Sea Farms (Nevis C):

Mortality data published on 9 November 2022 by Salmon Scotland detailed mortality data for September 2022 headed by RSPCA Assured Loch Duart in Loch Carnan with 55.9% (when Loch Duart come round to harvesting out Loch Carnan there will be very few fish left!):

Maths wizard Corin Smith of Inside Scottish Salmon Feedlots published (10 November 2022) a damning assessment of how the 'Scottish' salmon farming industry present mortality figures – estimating that a staggering three million salmon died inside RSPCA Assured feedlots in the month of September 2022 alone:

Back in 2013, the Scottish Salmon Producers Organisation (since renamed Salmon Scotland) successfully lobbied against publication of mortality numbers arguing that disclosure would be 'commercially damaging'!
