Nancy Nicolson of BBC Farming Today grilled Mowi's environmental manager Stephen McIntyre (formerly with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency) on Mowi's 24% mortality rate and "incredibly difficult" farming conditions in such an exposed location.

BBC Farming Today interviewed Dr Sally Campbell of the Scottish Creel Fishermen's Federation on the toxic chemicals and waste impacts of salmon farms.
In September 2019, Scottish Salmon Watch exposed how Mowi's salmon farm off the Isle of Rum (the site visited by Nancy Nicolson of BBC Farming Today) was suffering from infectious diseases and welfare problems.
