The Norwegian-owned salmon farming lobby loves to label people who don't buy farmed salmon as "Extreme Activists" – as Tavish Scott (chief lobbyist for the Norwegian, sorry I mean, Scottish Salmon Producers Organisation) slurred on BBC Scotland's 'The Nine' earlier this month (6 April 2021). The Chief Executive of the SSPO (which represents Nowegian-owned Mowi, Grieg Seafood and Scottish Seafarms; Faroese/Norwegian-owned The Scottish Salmon Company; US-owned Loch Duart; Canadian-owned Cooke Aquaculture; Dutch/Canadian/Norwegian-owned 'Organic' Sea Harvest; German-owned AquaGen and Dutch-owned Hendrix Genetics) used the insult "extreme activist" or "extreme activism" five or six times in a ten-minute tirade – it was as if Tavish had "extreme activist" written down on a Post-It note on his computer screen.
Far from being active, most of my time is spent sat down on a chair in front of a computer screen trawling through data on mass mortalities and infectious diseases published by the Scottish Government's Fish Health Inspectorate. Granted, data-crunching can get extreme…….extremely boring.
Extreme Activism #1 (in an occasional series @tavishscott): After dressing the kids, dropping Dad off at the dentist, walking the dog & washing up I clicked onto a Government website to check for infectious diseases killing Scottish salmon @marinescotland https://t.co/r6jks42ZdA

Or data published by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency and the Scottish Government via Scotland's Aquaculture:
If I'm feeling extremely active I even try and decipher the sanitized data published monthly by the Scottish Salmon Producers Organisation:
Or lice and mortality data published by Mowi (formerly called Marine Harvest):
Sometimes I even Google "Scottish salmon" and watch shocking video footage of welfare abuse inside RSPCA Assured salmon farms across Scotland or watch damning video evidence inside a Scottish Salmon processing plant.
'Extreme Activists' publish extremely damning photos of welfare abuse inside @rspcaassured salmon farmshttps://t.co/A4lq22WPg4 @SSPOsays @ciwf @onekindtweet @scotseafarms @ScotlandMowi @GriegShetland @salmon_scottish @CookeScotland @APHAgovuk @marinescotland @tavishscott @scotgp pic.twitter.com/I3PtGrIHrF
