Greenwashing by the Deadly ASC (Abominable Salmon Council) Leaps to Over 30 Fish Farms - with another 17 waiting to be rubber-stamped!

Despite rising death rates on salmon farms across Scotland, the Aquaculture Stewardship Council recently (16 January 2023) approved three disease-ridden salmon farms in Loch Nevis operated by Scottish Sea Farms (exclusive supplier to M&S). Earlier this month, Salmon Scotland published damning mortality data for November 2022 detailing 64% at Nevis B salmon farm and 46.8% at Nevis A salmon farm:

Mortality data published by Salmon Scotland for October 2022 also revealed shocking death rates at salmon farms across Scotland with 74% mortality at Nevis B and 45.3% at Nevis A:

Salmon Scotland's mortality data for November 2022 also detailed 47% mortality at Mowi's Bagh Dail Nan Cean ('Bay of the Dead Heads') salmon farm and 30% mortality at Mowi's Poll na Gille salmon farm in the Sound of Jura:

Despite such high death rates, Mowi's RSPCA Assured salmon farms at Poll Na Gille and Bagh Dail Nan Cean (Bay of the Dead Heads) in the Sound of Jura were audited this week – 16 to 20 January 2023 – by the Aquaculture Stewardship Council:

When Scottish Salmon Watch filmed inside Mowi's salmon farms at Poll na Gille, Bagh Dail Nan Ceann, Port na Cro and SW Shuna in July 2021 the welfare conditions were far from 'responsible':

Bakkafrost's Meall Mhor salmon farm in Loch is also currently being audited by the ASC – with an inspection from 20 to 24 February 2023. Animal Equality reported (16 January 2023):

The ASC – dubbed the 'Abominable Salmon Council' – has been lambasted for shameless greenwashing. The Ferret reported (20 January 2023):
