1. We’re devastated to be experiencing a fish health challenge of the nature we’re seeing at Creran, Don – a situation that simply isn’t acceptable to us – and we’ve been working closely with veterinary professionals to remove the affected fish.

2. Until end Sep, crop survival (96%) and performance were strong. In early Oct, the farm was hit by an algal bloom, compromising gill health. As a direct result of the bloom and seasonal high seawater temps, sea lice levels escalated, prompting the decision to remove the fish.

Scottish Sea Farms is certified as welfare-friendly by RSPCA Assured who rake in over half a million pounds per year by accrediting salmon farms in Scotland.

Scottish Sea Farms has been experiencing disease and lice problems in Loch Creran – a 'Special Area of Conservation' and 'Marine Protected Area' – for months.

In June 2019, Scottish Salmon Watch filmed welfare abuse by The Scottish Salmon Company in Loch Shieldaig.

In July 2019, secret filming by Scottish Salmon Watch inside a Mowi salmon farm at 'Bay of the Dead Heads' led to a welfare investigation by the Animal & Plant Health Agency.

In July 2020, Scottish Salmon Watch filmed inside salmon cages at The Scottish Salmon Company in Loch Striven.
